Today marks the joyous occasion of celebrating women all over the world. From mothers, to doctors, to teachers and so many more amazing professions that women are in. At Chameli, we wanted to share our support and share some of our favourite inspirations.
Sabia, Founder of Chameli shares her inspiration, Khadijah RA. She was the first wife and first follower of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Khadijah was the daughter of Khuwaylid ibn Asad, a leader of Quraysh tribe in Mecca, and a successful businesswoman in her own right.
Sharin, Chameli's secretary is inspired by Malala Yousafzai, who has been awarded a Noble Peace Prize for activism in fighting for the rights of all children to education. She has founded her own charity called Malala Fund, a charity working for a world where every girl can learn and lead.
Jolika, a Chameli caseworker spoke highly of J.K Rowling, who has amassed a multi millionaire fortune from single motherhood living on benefits. J.K Rowling began writing Harry Potter after going through an abusive relationship and has spoken about her experience in the media.
Rumana, a Chameli caseworker praised Mother Teresa who received many awards for her charity work and she founded an organisation called The Missionaries which was a sisterhood dedicated to helping the poor.
Hana, a Chameli caseworker, adores Princess Diana, and says she used her fame to do good and reached out to soo many people. Diana was an inspiration to people in all walks of life, and her death was met with worldwide mourning. Diana's selfless attitude is summed up by one of her most famous quotes; "Anywhere I see suffering, that is where I want to be, doing what I can".
Other amazing honourable inspiring women include Rosa Parks who was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. The United States Congress has called her "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".
Ibtihaj Mohammed is an American sabre fencer and member of the United States fencing team. She is known for being the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab while competing for the United States in the Olympics. as well as for winning an Olympic medal wearing it.
Oprah Winfrey is an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show.
